With the deadly coronavirus continuing its spread around the world, every global citizen must do their part to take steps to slow down its spread. Everyone has a role in helping to get the rapid rise of COVID-19 under control. Here are three steps that you should be taking to do your part to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Wash Your Hands
The main rule to follow to keep yourself healthy is washing your hands often. Frequent hand washing is the single best way to stop the spread of the virus. After wetting your hands and applying soap, you need to vigorously scrub for at least 20 seconds. Be sure to scrub all parts of the hand, including the back, the wrists, between the fingers, and under all of the fingernails. After you have thoroughly washed your hands, dry them completely with a clean towel. While regular soap and water is the most effective method, you can also use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer to clean your hands. Make sure that the alcohol percentage is at least 60%.
Stay Home
With the majority of the country under stay-at-home orders, it is imperative that you follow the rules and reduce your travel outside of your house as much as possible. You should only be leaving home in order to pick up essential items. Be sure to check your local regulations so that you are aware of how much movement is allowed outside of your home. For example, breaking the stay at home order even holds some harsh penalties in California. Some counties in this state are fining individuals up to $1,000 for not following the rules set in place to protect others.
Avoid Sharing Household Items
Now is not the time to be sharing household items. You can reduce the risk of spreading the virus inadvertently within your family if you are diligent about not sharing. This means not drinking out of the same cup, using separate towels after washing your hands, and so on. You can take this a step further by being intentional about regularly disinfecting commonly used household items, such as remote controls, doorknobs, and other items that many people may touch throughout the day.
It is important to remember that you may be contagious before you begin showing symptoms of having the coronavirus, making it important that you stay on top of these rules. Everyone has a role in fighting off this virus.
