Poveglia, Italy
Poveglia Island, a small island in between Venice and Lido in Northern Italy, has a dark and twisted history. For centuries the island was used as a home for the dead. During the 14th century the island was considered a quarantine colony for the victims of the bubonic plague. But it gets worse from there. In the 19th century Poveglia Island was used as an insane asylum for the mentally it. It’s reported that there was a savage doctor there that performed evil experiments on the patients
The island is abandoned today, except for maybe the tortured souls of those that died there. Everyone is banned from the island, unless you want to go through the lengthy application process. Since it’s considered the most haunted place in Italy, it’s best you just stay away.
