There are several demographic trends that you need to keep an eye on over the next decade. We can expect greater diversity, an aging population, and declining marriage rates. These, and many others, are things that will be constantly changing over the years.
Greater Diversity
Greater diversity can be expected over the next decade. The U.S. is becoming less white and more racially diverse. The United States is known to be a melting pot and over the next few years, this will become more true. America is made up of so many cultures, religions, and races. Eventually, whites will become a minority and hopefully, racism will become less of an issue. In a few years, whites won’t be the main demographic of America, and the diversity will become greater.
An Aging Population
By 2030, baby boomers will be 65 or older. According to statistics, there are more people over the age of 65 in the united states than there are under the age of 18. In the next decade, there will be more old people than young people and many of these elderly folks will be baby boomers. It used to be popular to have 6–12 children in a family, but now people want 1–3 children. This means that there will be a decrease in births in the next decade and more elderly people than children.
Declining Marriage Rates
It’s becoming increasingly popular to not get married at all, despite the decreasing divorce rates. It used to be commonplace for people who get pregnant out of wedlock to immediately get married. This has changed dramatically over the years. People don’t see pregnancy as a reason to get married anymore. This means that there will be a decline of two parent households within the next decade. The number of two parent households has already declined and will continue to fall. The traditional American family is changing and there is a drastic increase in divorce every year. Declining marriage rates is one of many demographics that can be expected over the next decade.
It’s a good idea to be aware of the changing demographic trends throughout the next decade. You should be aware of greater diversity, an aging population, and declining marriage rates. These and many other trends will be constantly changing over the next decade and you should be prepared for some differences.
