Nearly 50% of land in the West is owned by the United States government, but Nevada takes the cake. Of its approximately 70,000 acres of land, the U.S. owns 58,226,015 acres. The land is split up amongst the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Bureau of Reclamation, Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Fish and Wildlife Services, Forest Service and National Park Service.
