22 Million Chickens Are Killed Every Day.
There are more chickens in the world than any other bird. The United States consumes about 22 million of the most-popular domesticated animal every day. Not all chickens are eaten, though. Some chickens are used strictly for producing eggs, these birds are known as ‘layers’. Cockerels are male chickens less than a year old and roosters are males over a year old. Pullets are female chickens less than a year old, or whenever they begin laying eggs, after which they are referred to as hens.
