Venus Fly Traps Are Native Only To The Carolina’s
North Carolina officially adopted it as the State Carnivorous Plant in 2005. The Venus Fly Trap is cultivated internationally for its one-of-a-kind deadly reflex, but it is native to a 75-mile radius in the Carolinas. The coastal stretch around Wilmington, N.C. is home to this incredible plant. Once an invader brushes the plant’s bristles twice, it will spring shut. After the plant decides if what it caught is actually a meal, it will fully close the trap to begin digestion or open up to let the intruder free.
