5. Nirvana
Again, a band that has played its way into our hearts with generation-defining hits. Nirvana, clearly one of the greatest rock bands of all time, has had hits like “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “Heart-Shaped Box.” These tunes, along with a healthy dose of melancholy and angst, played a crucial role in the life of most people who came of age in the ’90s.
If you haven’t heard, their drummer went on to form another of those bands that rock — the Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl, the former Nirvana heavy hitter, decided that he wanted to take on the role of guitarist and vocalist. Anyway, Nirvana was the starting foundation upon which this later career would be formed.
