6. Groundhog Day Signifies the Arrival of Spring
Groundhog Day is celebrated across the west, as it signifies the arrival of spring. A groundhog usually comes out of hibernation when it gets warmer. If for some reason the groundhog retreats into its burrow, this would mean that winter will persist for six more weeks. During the old days, farmer used groundhogs as weather predictors, as they would observe groundhogs’ hibernation patterns to ascertain the arrival time of spring.
