Chernobyl’s Exclusion Zone, Ukraine
Disaster struck the number four reactor in Chernobyl 30 years ago. Radioactive clouds were immediately sent into the air, and evacuations soon followed. Once the Soviet military realized how extreme the damage was they declared an 18-mile radius around the plant as an Exclusion Zone. The Chernobyl disaster turned the city into a ghost town. Some parts of the zone are open, but most of it is still 100% off limits.
It’s pretty much impossible, but some tourists are able to get permission to enter. Since the radiation is high enough to seriously harm someone, you’re better off not going anyways.
