North Sentinel Island, India

North Sentinel Island is a tiny island included in the Adaman chain in the Bay of Bengal. The natives on the island have spent their lives opposing the influence of the modern world. They’re so adamant to keep out civilization that they refuse to communicate with any outsiders and have no problem getting violent to protect their way of life. After the tsunami in 2004, the Indian Coast Guard decided to do a reconnaissance mission on the island. They flew a helicopter over the island, but didn’t land it because men came out of the forests to shoot arrows at the aircraft.

The Sentinelese have called the island their home for approximately 60,000 years! The protection of the Indian government forbids any visitors from gaining access to the island, this includes tourists, authorities, and anthropologists.
