9. Alien Xenomorph: Leave the Human Outline Behind

The Xenomorph is one of those costume ideas that remains unsettling even when you know there is a person inside. Its design pushes away from familiar human proportions, making recognition and discomfort happen at the same time. The photograph here captures two Alien costumes facing a Predator before the Dragon Con parade in 2010.
That group setting is a useful reminder of how powerful a creature suit can be in the real world. A design associated with dark movie corridors becomes even stranger when it appears among ordinary people in daylight. The appeal is not just a frightening face. It is the effort to turn the entire body into something other.
For Halloween, a Xenomorph brings immediate atmosphere without needing a haunted-house set around it. The character already supplies the mood. Put two of them together, as in this photograph, and the effect becomes less like a person wearing a costume and more like a very unfortunate encounter.
