Check out this beauty. The Plymouth Road Runner was produced between 1968 and 1980, with a focus on performance. By 1968, many of the original muscle cars were making the move away from their inexpensive roots and became pricey as they gained features and increased in price. Plymouth saw this as an opportunity to develop the Road Runner and market it at a lower price. Plymouth paid Warner Bros. $50,000 to use the name and likeness of the Road Runner character from their Wile E. Coyote and The Road Runner cartoons (as well as the “beep, beep” horn).
