Giant robots, walking trees, alien creatures, and elaborate fantasy armor: ten real costumes that take Halloween inspiration to another level.
When a Costume Becomes the Main Event
Some people put on a costume. Others seem to arrive from an entirely different movie, planet, or dimension. This gallery is for the second group: ten elaborate looks that turn dressing up into a full transformation.
From a walking tree to an armored fantasy villain, these are the kinds of costumes that make you pause and wonder how a person fits inside. The selection features real photographs from conventions and costume contests, gathered here as over-the-top Halloween inspiration.
There is no shopping list or last-minute shortcut here. Just ten seriously cool costumes, each with enough personality and ambition to make an entrance.
