Longest Boardwalk In The World Is In Atlantic City.
Not only is it the longest, it is the oldest. The Atlantic City Boardwalk opened in 1870. It was originally created to keep sandy beachgoers out of train stations and shops. At 5.5 miles long, it is by far the longest in the world. Taffy shops and ferris wheels made it famous in the early-1900s, and it is still a historical and cultural landmark to this day. Hurricane Sandy did its best to demolish the boardwalk in 2012, but the New Jersey community has worked tirelessly to bring it back to its full functionality.
